Self-Indulgence

This week, we're going to get a little self-indulgent! We're talking about the no-holds-barred weirdness of 'Doom Patrol' on HBO Max, indulging every whim inspired by the strange DC comic. We're talking about the slow burn of 'Midnight Mass' on Netflix, which rewards those who stick around, and the slow burn of 'Foundation' on Apple+, which seems likely to not. And we're talking about David Chase's Sopranos fan film 'Many Saints of Newark' on Netflix.

26:06-35:04 Doom Patrol (HBO Max)
35:51-51:41 Midnight Mass (NETFLIX)
52:06-1:01:45 Foundation (Apple+)

Why Would You Make That?

This week we ask the musical question: Why would you make that? Blending together Star Wars and anime on Star Wars Visions on Disney+ is actually the least crazy thing this week. There's the forgettable Ordinary Joe on HULU. There's the Korean sci-fi weirdness of Squid Game on NETFLIX. And there are certainly some weird gems in Les's rundown of Fantastic Fest.

20:40-25:55 Truth is Stranger Than Fan-Fiction
25:55-35:48 Star Wars Visions (Disney+)
36:12-42:30 Fantastic Fest (Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes, Cannon Arm and the Arcade Quest, Found Footage Phenomenon, Let The Wrong One In)
42:30-52:28 Ordinary Joe (HULU)
52:28-58:00 Fantastic Fest (The Beta Test, Bingo Hell, Exorcism of God, Ike Boys, Lamb, Mother Schmuckers)
58:00-1:04:32 Squid Game (NETFLIX)
1:04:32-1:16:26 Fantastic Fest (This is Gwar, The Trip, Baby Assassins, Eyes of Fire, There's Someone Inside Your House, V/H/S/94, Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror, Sweetie You Won't Believe It)

There's the increasing and delightful weirdness of 'AP Bio' season four on Peacock. And there's the accumulated weirdness stuffed into the perfect finale for 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' on Hulu.

Family Matters

This week, we're talking about Family Matters! That's right, it's time to talk about the reboot of a beloved ABC family show... no, not that one, Doogie Howser gets a new look and new locale with 'Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.' on Disney+. Then there are the complicated family matters of Irish gangsters in 'Kin' on AMC+. And the less-than-stellar family drama that is puzzingly at the head of FX's adaptation of 'Y The Last Man'. Check it out!
